And the world spins madly on…

Hey you guys,

Long time, no see! I gotta be honest with you: I’m not doing great with my grand plans for getting my ass in gear with my health and fitness. Truth be told, I’m tired. And really not even physically. I’m mentally drained. My work life has taken over my real life in the past several weeks and I’ve been very down about this and it has kind of ruined my will to do anything once I leave work. Except, you know, eat, drink and watch Game of Thrones and Frasier while playing Sudoku.

And, in the meantime, I’ve been working with a nutritionist, Rachel, who is a really awesome and patient and tries to be understanding while I complain about being unable to lose weight, while she can see from my food logs that I drank 1000 calories worth of beer on one Saturday night.

So, not my best phase.

But, life is cyclical. And I’m hoping that something is sparked in me soon to reignite my dedication to working out, but right now, it just seems pretty dim. I just don’t feel very well.

I’m telling you all this because I don’t want this blog to be about how great I am or what rockstar stuff I’m able to do. I wanted it to be about a real person, who struggles and has peaks and valleys in her path toward better health and fitness. And I hope, ultimately, it becomes a success story, where, despite the very normal setbacks, highs and lows, I achieve my goals and keep pushing. Because there is no finish line in the pursuit of good health. It’s a lifelong pursuit and every milestone is worth celebrating and every pitfall is worth noting, because without the bitter, the sweet wouldn’t seem as great.

So, I hope you keep reading and I keep writing and we all keep working hard and chasing our goals together. Because it helps me, and I hope maybe it helps you too.

p.s. here is a photo of me and my fiancé on a 12 mile bike ride on Saturday. This was probably the first time I’ve been on a bike in a decade, but it was so fun and my butt was sore the next day!! So worth it though and a great, healthy activity for a Saturday afternoon!!
